Our story

About Mount Lawley Physiotherapy and Podiatry

A family-run clinic built on Beaufort Street in 2015

How we started

How we started

Mount Lawley Physiotherapy and Podiatry opened its doors in 2015 when Saleena Walker decided to build the kind of clinic she would want to visit as a patient: friendly, professional, and genuinely focused on the person in front of you.

Saleena had already spent over 13 years working as a physiotherapist in private practice and with football teams across Perth. She had represented Australia in Mixed Martial Arts and knew firsthand what it meant to rehabilitate an injury and return to full strength. But she also knew that too many clinics treated patients like appointments on a conveyor belt; in and out, next please.

She wanted something different. A place where practitioners took time to explain what was wrong, where your physio and podiatrist actually talked to each other about your case, and where you were never made to feel like just another file.

So she found a space on Beaufort Street, next to the big orange chemist, and built exactly that.

Today, the clinic has grown to a team of 15 staff across physiotherapists, podiatrists, massage therapists, receptionists, and practice manager Kimberly Howes. Saleena's husband Sam is co-director and the friendly face who keeps the building running smoothly. But the original vision has not changed: treat the person, not the body part.

What we believe

What we believe

We believe good healthcare is simple, even though bodies are complicated.

We listen first.

Before we treat anything, we want to understand your symptoms, your history, your goals, and your concerns. A 45-year-old runner with heel pain needs a different approach to a 70-year-old with the same symptom.

We explain thoroughly.

You should leave every appointment understanding what is wrong, what we are doing about it, and what you can do at home to help. No jargon, no mystery, no dependence on endless appointments.

We work together.

Our physios, podiatrists, and massage therapists collaborate on complex cases. If your foot pain is caused by a hip issue, your podiatrist and physio will figure that out together; you will not have to play messenger.

We think long-term.

Our goal is not just to stop your pain today. It is to give you the knowledge, exercises, and habits that keep you healthy next month and next year.

We respect your time.

We offer same-day appointments where possible, Saturday mornings for people who work during the week, and online booking so you can secure a spot without waiting on hold.

Physiotherapist treating a patient in a modern rehabilitation setting

Our space

Our space

Our clinic is located at 1/687 Beaufort Street, Mount Lawley, in the heart of one of Perth's most vibrant strips. We have free parking available at the rear of the building, wheelchair access, and private treatment rooms for every appointment.

We have equipped the clinic with modern tools including a 3D scanner for custom orthotics, electrotherapy equipment, pregnancy massage beds, and all the standard physiotherapy and podiatry equipment you would expect. But the most important thing in our clinic is not the equipment; it is the people using it.

Payments

Insurance and payment

We believe getting treatment should not be a financial headache.

Preferred providers: We are Bupa Members First and HCF preferred providers, which means higher rebates and lower out-of-pocket costs for members.

Health funds we accept: Bupa, HCF, HBF, Medibank, nib, ahm, Australian Unity, CBHS, GMHBA, HIF, and Teachers Health.

On-the-spot claiming: HICAPS is available at reception so you can claim your rebate immediately and only pay the gap.

Medicare: We accept Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) referrals from your GP. Bulk billing is available for eligible patients.

Workers compensation and motor vehicle accidents: We have extensive experience with workers compensation and MVA claims. All you need is a GP referral and a claim number; we bill the insurer directly so you have no out-of-pocket expense.

DVA: Department of Veterans' Affairs referrals are accepted.

If you are unsure about your coverage, call us on (08) 9271 8805 and our reception team will walk you through it.
